Whether you're looking for a baby girl gift, a baby boy gift or a gift that'll work for any new bundle these are the best baby shower gifts for 2023. Even the smallest token should be appreciated by new parents, but you can also never underestimate the impact of the group gift, which allows new parents to get more expensive items without putting the financial burden for the gift on one person. The price can vary widely depending on how well you know the new parents, your family and friends' gift-giving traditions and what they've included on their registry if they have one. How much should you spend on a baby shower gift?Īgain, there are no hard-and-fast rules with no strict dollar amounts. You might want to check with close friends or relatives to see if anyone has claimed a gift you might've had an eye on - and of course you want to check the Good Housekeeping Institute product reviews to make sure the items are safe, easy to use and long-lasting - but within those parameters, the field is wide open. Some families set up a registry with their wish list items in the colors they've picked for their nursery, while others are more open to anything. Toys should have a manufacturers' age recommendation on them, so you should be able to quickly tell if they're appropriate for infants.Īs long as the gift is safe, though, there are no hard-and-fast rules. And skip anything with small parts that could be choking hazards, including tiny toys or clothes with buttons down the front. Inclined sleep products, or soft sleeping surfaces and loungers, are also to be avoided since they've been deemed suffocation risks. The first is anything used, especially baby gear like car seats or cribs, since they may no longer meet current safety standards. There are, however, a couple of things to steer clear of from a health and safety perspective. Luckily, options for appropriate baby shower gifts abound, and almost anything that benefits the baby or new parents is fair game. So, what is an appropriate baby shower gift? ![]() The best baby shower gifts are items that parents will actually use (sorry to all those oh-so-cute fancy outfits that will get one wear if they're lucky), will stand up to repeated use and won't just become more clutter in their house. But new parents also don't know what they don't know, so it's up to seasoned experts to fill in the gaps with the items they didn't know they needed. When it comes time to get a baby shower gift, the parents-to-be have probably put a lot of thought into a baby registry for all the biggest-ticket gear. ![]() ![]() “When you keep opening new stores in a market which is challenging it creates capital stress, because it requires resources and capital investment and that's risky when the market is subdued,” he said. He said Max Brenner wanted to open seven new stores in Australia this year - which he described as a “growth for growth’s sake strategy”. However, Associate Professor Gary Mortimer from the Queensland University of Technology told Max Brenner’s Aussie nightmare can be compared to struggles faced by other food groups such as Craveable Brands - which owns Chicken Treat, Oporto and Red Rooster - and Retail Food Group Limited, which owns Gloria Jean’s and Michel’s Patisserie. Now, there are 15 stores in NSW, 12 in Queensland, five in Melbourne, two in the ACT and Western Australia, and one each in South Australia and the Northern Territory. The pair, who made BRW’s Young Rich list in 2013 with a fortune of $40 million, branched out across the country soon after. They opened their first cafe in Sydney’s Paddington in 1999 and the chain is now headquartered in Alexandria, in the city’s inner-west. In Australia, the chain - which is known for its fondue, crepes, milkshakes, waffles, and hot chocolate - is owned and run by husband and wife team Tom and Lilly Haikin. “The rise of social media and our embrace of lining up for pop-up, limited edition food items that we can then Instagram has replaced the notion of dipping into a personal chocolate fountain which feels quite dated now.” “Now, artisanal chocolate and associated shops and cafes are everywhere: the novelty of Max Brenner has largely faded. “When Max Brenner opened in Australia in the late 1990s the food scene was very different,” she said. The chain is known for its fondue, crepes, milkshakes, waffles, and hot chocolate. She told there may even be a political factor at play - as the chain began life in Israel which has copped criticism over its ongoing and often violent feud with Palestine. “Chocoholics are respectfully invited to show their support by enjoying a hot chocolate or dessert as the Administrators assess the best solution to ensure Max Brenner Australia’s unique chocolate experience continues to delight millions of Australians in the future.”īusiness trends expert Dr Lauren Rosewarne from The University of Melbourne, said there may be many reasons for the confectionary brand’s Australian decline. “Max Brenner Australia remains open for business as usual at this time,” it read. LUXURY chocolate chain Max Brenner is facing an uncertain future as it is plunged into voluntary administration.Ī tough retail climate resulting in sluggish sales and rising costs are understood to be behind the dramatic decision - which was taken on Sunday afternoon. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Since we moved in to a house that needed so much done to it, cost was a very important factor. The stained carpet really grossed both of us out.Īfter researching flooring and flooring costs combined with where our skillset was at that time, we ultimately decided that a good short-term option for our bathroom was vinyl stick-on tile. One of the first things that we knew we wanted to change was the flooring in our bathroom. We weren't scared of learning how to DIY and improve our house, but we just were new to everything. So, to say that we were in over our heads on the house renovation thing was an understatement. The 'handiest' thing we'd ever done was to paint walls at our previous house and even that was new to us at that house. Seriously, is there anything more disgusting than carpet in bathrooms? The warm and moist environment might also have contributed the the wear as well but overall it looks like they have held up ok.On move in day at this house, back in 2012, we knew we had a long uphill road when it came to the bathrooms. So if they used the right materials this should hold up to heavy duty traffic without peeling but is not made to be permanent. I obvs don’t know the exact materials used but this should have been printed on a commercial grade floor vinyl, and (if finished properly) then laminated, like you see on the floors of the grocery stores. Vinyl loves heat and pressure the heat softens the material making it more flexible and able to conform to uneven surfaces almost like shrink wrap. A couple of tips I can offer if you didn’t already try would be to apply with a little heat and a lot of pressure, like a torch and a rubber j-roller. They are so pretty but you just never know how long a fix like that will last. But knowing what we know now, yes we still would have done this fun DIY update and we will forever continue to renovate in phases.Ĭheck out the original project right here and the little girls’ phase 1 bathroom makeover here! I think if your floor is smoother tile, you will have no issues. It truly has brightened this bathroom and made it more tolerable to be in, especially while we were using it as our primary bathroom during the cottage bathroom renovation.īut, if we were going to do it again, we would (and probably will) add a sealer over the whole floor, or at least the grout lines. Knowing that this was going to be a temporary update gave me the freedom to be a little more brave in selecting a fun pattern and color. After doing a bit of research, we think that even if your tile is rough and textured, it would stay better if you used some kind of sealant coat on top. If your grout is sunken in, you can easily re-grout on top in order to make it more flush with the edges of the tile. Some grout and tile might be better suited for this DIY. Combine that with little feet traffic lifting up the edges over time. The corners are definitely lifting up, which we kind of expected since we didn’t attempt to seal any of this, but we honestly think this mostly has to do with the fact that our grout is sunken in, and the edges on the tile are so rough and textured. …and this is what it looks like with 5 months of wear and tear. We laid each vinyl sticker over the tile but left the grout exposed. As you can see, this tile is so rough and bumpy around the edges. Sometimes I forget that this is what we started with. We learned a lot from this and wanted to share what we would have done differently, or what you could do if you’re interested in this flooring solution. But also, we were hoping it would get us through a year or two. Just a little sprucing to match more of our taste and aesthetic. This was always going to be a temporary solution to level up the bathroom until we could prioritize making it what we really dreamed. Well the honest truth is… it’s not as great as we hoped it would be. ![]() Anybody else? In reality, 5 months have flown by, and they have been put to the ultimate test so we thought it was time to spill the details – the answer to everyone’s burning question, “how is the vinyl holding up?” It seems to be only yesterday that we laid peel and stick tile over the girls bathroom floor. ![]() ![]() ![]() On 22 October, Calli reached 500,000 YouTube subscribers, making her the 16th hololive member to reach this milestone, as well as the 2nd member of the English branch to do so. Many of Euan’s storyboards for Maddy’s looks ended up molding the character - not entirely, he notes, but just enough to make it that her style was inextricably linked to how she presents herself throughout the series’ plot. His first meeting with crew members tasked with the aesthetics of the show was before COVID hit. “Sam Levinson loved the way that it read on camera, so Alexa and I had been in talks since the first season about possibly coming back for a second season and being commissioned to come up for looks for that,” Euan says. “They reached out because those two looks sort of fit the character and the storyline, but we ended up customizing them a little more for the winter formal scene to really make them ‘for’ Maddy.” That involved adding real ostrich feathers to a jacket and sprinkling Swarovski crystals around the jacket and a veil, along with creating shoes and accessories for the outfit. “They were existing pieces from my personal collection and designs that were already being sold on my website,” he says. I get 1,000 round lots of it for almost exactly $100, which I think is perfectly justifiable when I consider the performance of the round. 22 ammo, but not at match grade prices. Its certainly a bit light for adult raccoons and similar sized varmints but the penetration is excellent and it will reliably kill them, certainly more than Ive seen in the past with lighter supersonic hollow points. The squirrels and rabbits generally dont react much to the hit but they never get far and wounding through the vitals is often around 3/8 to 1/2. I get signs of expansion and kills take mere seconds on small rabbits and squirrels, while penetration on an 18 pound adult male raccoon was through-and-through on a quartering shot that entered the front shoulder and exited just in front of the rear leg on the opposite side. Terminal performance on small game (squirrels, raccoons, and rabbits in particular) has been nothing short of excellent across the entire weight range. This is obviously nice for both the shooter and the neighbors, as well as probably being less likely to spook game in the area than a louder supersonic round. Much quieter than any of the higher velocity supersonic hunting loads. I dont run a suppressor but this is still very quiet ammo, its well under the sound barrier at an average of 980 FPS from my rifle. With the current stainless Marlin and its peep sights I can hit golf balls offhand out to about 25 or 30 yards, which is basically the outer limit for this rounds effectiveness anyway. Accuracy has been as good or better than anything else Ive tried, including some very expensive match ammo. Ive ran this load exclusively through two different Marlin M60s after initial accuracy and reliability testing and the results are as follows: 22LR load from CCI, their Suppressor product, a 45 grain lead hollow point (hard wax-based lube, very clean to handle) at an advertised velocity of 970 FPS.
